The ECS in pets contains endocannabinoids and receptors that work together. It’s not just in their brains and immune systems either—it’s also found in their skin.

When it comes to our pets’ skin health, the ECS plays an important role. It helps maintain their skin’s balance, repairs the protective barrier, and even influences hair growth and pigmentation. Similar to humans, when things go wrong with the ECS, pets can experience skin problems like itchy skin, dermatitis, psoriasis, and more.

The anti-inflammatory effects of the cannabinoids in hemp can also help with skin conditions and pain relief. Several studies—such as this one from 2012—show that hemp actively reduces inflammation, swelling, and itchiness.

Scientists have conducted studies on the effects of cannabinoids, which are natural substances found in the Hemp plant, on pet skin. The introduction of plant cannabinoids has been shown to have a beneficial effect in regulating the ECS—helping to alleviate many of the issues mentioned above!

The results of using hemp for Canine Atopic Dermatitis is particularly encouraging. After approximately 2 weeks, all of the dogs in this study of hemp oil were found to have marked improvement in their symptoms without any negative side effects.
